Lottie Alma Zerbst, former resident of Sioux County and Harrison, died at Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home Saturday, Oct. 18.
Lottie Alma Hill, daughter of James and Olive Hill, was born Dec. 11, 1889, at Jefferson, S. D. As a young woman she came to Sioux County with her parents and on Sept. 6, 1908, she married Carl Zerbst. To this union was born two children, Mildred Lambert of Marsland, Nebr. and Walter Zerbst of Lusk, Wyo.
For a number of years they were in the farming and ranching business in Sioux County. After disposing of these interests they became engaged in the shoe repair business in Harrison. They sold out there and moved to Custer, S. D., where they operated a shop for a number of years.
After selling the Custer shop they moved to Oregon where they again went into the shoe repair business and had shops in Portland, then Prineville and later in Springfield where Mr. Zerbst died on Oct. 5, 1953.
For a number of years Mrs. Zerbst continued to make her home in Springfield. It was in 1971 that her trailer was moved to Crawford and after she was unable to live alone she entered Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home.
She is survived by her son and son-in-law, two brothers, Ward B. Hill of Lincoln and Lloyd Hill of Sydney, three sisters, Addie Bourrett of Sioux City, Iowa, Myrtle Swanson of Moses Lake, Wash., Grace Brown of Colton, Cal.; six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held at Houston Funeral Home in Crawford with Rev. Herbert Schuler officiating. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.
Pallbearers were grandsons and a great-grandson, Darrell Lambert, Dewayne Lambert, LeRoy Christianson, Harry Weeden, Delbert Zerbst and Douglas Zerbst.
