After selling the Custer shop they moved to Oregon where they again went into the shoe repair business and had shops in Portland, then Prineville and later in Springfield where Mr. Zerbst died on Oct. 5, 1953.

For a number of years Mrs. Zerbst continued to make her home in Springfield. It was in 1971 that her trailer was moved to Crawford and after she was unable to live alone she entered Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home.
