Death Claims Father of Harry Cornell at Harvard, Nebr. 17th
A severe stage of heart and kidney disorder which started about four weeks ago claimed the life of William "Billy" Cornell, father of Harry Cornell of this county, at the family home in Harvard, Nebr., last Tuesday, December 17th. Mr. Cornell would have been 77 years of age had he lived until December 23rd.
The illness came upon him suddenly, and was a surprise to many of his friends because he had always been a robust man and enjoyed good health all the while until the illness struck him.
The son residing here was called when it became evident the man's condition was critical and, along with other members of the family, was present at the patient's bedside when the end came. The deceased is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter, and twenty-two grand-children.
Funeral services were conducted at Harvard last Thursday December 19th and interment was made in the Harvard cemetery.
Mr. Cornell had resided in the vicinity of Harvard for the past 55 years, and until about 15 years ago was engaged in farming. Retiring from active occupation the family moved to town where they have since made their home. The decedent was one of the most highly respected men of the community, and was familiarly known to many by the nickname "Billy." He had been much interested in the progress of his locality and cooperated in many of Harvard's civic enterprises.
He is known to quite a few residents of this county, his acquaintance being made during a visit here several years ago, when he was a guest at the home of his son and family.
