Former Local Woman Passes Away March 30

Mrs. Bertha Wood Succumbs to Attack of Influenza at Salt Creek; Had Lived in Lusk and Manville for Several Years and Had Many Friends in Both Places

Word comes to us that one of our former citizens, Mrs. Bertha Wood, passed away at her home in Salt Creek Tuesday, March 30.

Mrs. Wood was ill with flu for about a week and when double pneumonia set in her vitality was so low that she soon gave up the struggle and passed to new adventures in the unknown.

A short service was held at Salt Creek before the remains were taken to Casper where services were again held on Friday, April 2, at the Shaffer-Gay mortuary.

Mr. Wood's father being a Mason and his mother an Eastern Star, these organizations, as is their custom, gave every possible attention to the bereaved ones and greatly regretted that they had not been informed of Mrs. Wood's illness until after her death.

Mrs. Wood was of the type which made friends quickly, and though living in Salt Creek a comparatively short time, had a host of friends who attended the services and tried to express their loving thoughts in beautiful floral offerings.

The deceased is survived by her husband, H. C. Wood, little son, Jack, her mother and several brothers and sisters whose names we were unable to learn. Little Jack will make his home with Mrs. Wood's mother.

The remains were laid to rest in the Casper cemetery.
