Former Niobrara Homesteader Dies at Gordon

Guy Rash, who homesteaded north of Manville in 1915, living there for five years, died at his home southeast of Gordon, Nebr. April 25, according to word received here this week from a daughter, Hazel Rash Miller.

Mr. Rash was born at Gordon, September 15, 1890. He married Tell Mary Johnson, January 23, 1913 at Rushville and in 1915 they moved to Wyoming but returned to Gordon in 1920 and have lived there since.

He united with the Methodist church in 1937, transferring his membership from the Friend church at Central City where he had attended during his college days. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodge of Gordon.

He is survived by his wife and three children: Mrs. Hazel Miller, Oakland, California, Mrs. Dona Luther, Alliance, Nebraska and Lyle, who is serving in the army of occupation in Germany, his mother, Mrs. Clara Rash, Gordon, Nebraska, three brothers, Roy and Ross, Gordon, Nebraska, and Vaughn of Redondo Beach, California, six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Thompson, Winterset, Iowa, Mrs. Grace Marshall, Gordon, Nebraska, Mrs. Bessie Redfern, Rapid City, So. Dak., Mrs. Elsie Walker, Rosemead, California, Mrs. Viola Sharp, El Monte, California, and Mrs. Wilma McCollister, Valentine, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church April 26 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. H. C. Johnson officiating, and interment was made in the City Cemetery.
