Elmer Robbins Dies in Douglas

Elmer Robbins, 64, former resident of Lance Creek, died at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Friday, Sept. 27, after a three-year illness from a heart ailment.

Funeral services were conducted from the Masonic Temple on Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Louis Gale, pastor of the Congregational Church, assisting. The Masonic services were used at the grave, interment being made in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Loren Elmer Robbins was born October 2, 1882, at Boone, Iowa. He came to Douglas 40 years ago, part of the intervening time being spent at Lance Creek, where the family resided for a number of years, and at McGill, Nev., Fort Collins, Colo., and for 13 years the family lived in Aruba, Netherlands, West Indies, where Mr. Robbins was associated with the Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey.

On August 18, 1909, he was united in marriage to Josephine Belle Bamford. To this union two daughters were born.

Coming back to the States in 1942 the Robbins returned to Douglas to make their home. He opened a service station which he operated until illness forced him to sell the business three years ago.

Surviving are his widow and two daughters, Margaret Corrington of Douglas and Evelyn May Couch of Nixon, Texas. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jackie and Beverly Couch and Sherrie Corrington.

Mrs. Couch arrived in Casper by plane Sunday morning.
