Mrs. Lee Siemsen Receives Word of Brother's Death
In a telegraphic message Mrs. Lee Siemsen received notification Wednesday of the death of her brother, M. M. 1/c Norman P. Walter, 28, who was killed in an airplane crash at 3:44 a.m., Wednesday, July 2nd, at San Diego, Calif. Details of the crash were not given, but by telephonic conversation with the family of the deceased, a heavy fog seemingly was responsible for the accident.
The deceased, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Walter of Pueblo, Calif., was born at Kearney, Nebr., in August, 1924. He was a veteran of World War II, and has been in eleven combat missions in the South Pacific theatre, with the U. S. Naval Air Force. He had only recently returned from Korea where he had completed 21 missions. He had been in military service for the past eleven years.
Other than his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tillie and two small sons, Delbert and "Skipper", and nine sisters and brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. and Mrs. Siemsen left today (Thursday) for San Diego, Calif., where they will attend memorial services on Saturday. The remains will then be shipped to Green River, Wyo., where funeral services and interment will be held.
