Harry Clayton Baughn

Buck Baughn, a name Harry acquired as a youngster, passed away July 16, 2011 at the Niobrara Life and Health Center in Lusk, Wyoming.

A graveside service will be performed by leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Thursday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at the Lusk Cemetery. A Military Honor Guard will also participate.

Buck is survived by his wife Iris of Lusk and one sister, Bertha Krekeler, also of Lusk.

Buck was born Jan. 9, 1920 at his grandmother’s home here in Lusk to Ray and Lugena Baughn. He attended schools in Lance Creek and graduated from Manville High School.

In his younger years he worked for area ranchers and eventually joined the National Guard. He then was drafted into the regular army and served for two years of active service.

Buck was a hard worker and was well-liked by everyone. He had a keen eye for pretty girls and when he first met Iris Crofutt, like the saying goes, “that’s all she wrote”. They were married the 6th of November 1948, and made their home in Lance Creek.

He started working at the Torrington Sugar Factory in 1954 and continued there until his retirement. Buck and Iris then moved to Lusk where they have lived until the present time.

Buck was a long time active member of the LDS Church in Lusk and was considered by his friends to be a “great Christian” and will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
