Cora Sowers was pioneer teacher

Cora Sowers died at Ponderosa Villa at Crawford September 11 at the age of 92. She lived in east Sioux County for many years and taught school for over 40 years.

About twenty years ago she resided in her home until the past few months when she entered Ponderosa.

Bishop Olson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was in charge of the service. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Bell Arner and Florence Martin, and one brother Walton Sowers. Three nieces and five nephews survive her. Earnest Arner of Crawford often visited and helped her in many ways.

Nellie Bannon remarked that Cora Sowers will be remembered by many people for she was well liked and admired. We know this is true, because our mother remembers her former teacher with affection. Mother was a grade school pupil of Cora's in District 213 over 60 years ago.
