Edwin Breckenridge "Ted" Burgoon

Dr. Edwin B. (Ted) Burgoon, 60, who opened a medical practice in Lusk in early June, died July 31 at Natrona County Hospital in Casper. Funeral mass was held Tuesday, August 3, at St. Joseph's Orphanage Chapel in Torrington.

Rosary was recited Monday evening at Sutley Funeral Home. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with Father Carl Beavers officiating. The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Wyoming National Guard conducted military rites.

Edwin Breckenridge Burgoon was born June 20, 1922, in Kemmerer, the son of Alonzo L. and Fanny Cooper Burgoon. He attended elementary schools in Diamondville and was a graduate of Kemmerer High School. He received his pre-medical training at the University of Wyoming and was a graduate of the Pennsylvania Medical School. Prior to his establishment of a medical practice in Lusk, he had practiced in Big Piney, Lander, Rock Springs, Jeffery City, Superior and Midwest. He had also completed a medical tour of duty in Yemen and Vietnam for Catholic Relief Services and had served as a captain on the Army in Korea.

He was married to Carmella Stockhausen who presently lives in Miami, Fla. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Wyoming Medical Association.

He is survived by one son, Michael Joseph of Miami, two sisters, Barbara Houk of Torrington and Helen Thornton of Westminster, Calif.; one grandson Ebin, and one granddaughter Hillary.
