Roy Walker Dies Here Sept. 16

Roy Walker, 65, died at his home north of Lusk last Wednesday. It was known that he had a severe heart condition. About 11:00 a.m. while talking with a neighbor he complained of severe pains in his chest. He was seen again about 4:00 p.m. but at 8:15 p.m. he was found dead. Mr. Walker had been treated extensively at the Veterans Hospital in Cheyenne.

Funeral services were held at the Mauer Mortuary in LeMars, Iowa at 2:00 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Charles Cruse officiating. Soloist Dean Rowe sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me". Organist was Mrs. William Timmons.

Military services were conducted by the American legion of LeMars. Burial was in the LeMars Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Bullington, Ralph Stephenson, Henry Plugger, M.E. Webber, J.P. Rommel and Roger Bonsell.

Roy Ross Walker, son of Archibald and Lula (Pierce)Walker, was born December 19, 1893 in Charleston W. Va. He received his education in Onawa, Iowa. He came to Wyoming in 1911 homesteading 45 miles north of Lusk and working as a bridge carpenter on the Chicago & North Western Railroad.

Mr. Walker entered the service at 17 and served on the Mexican border and in World War I. During the war he was in the famous Rainbow Division serving under General Douglas MacArthur. He was a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V.S.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rachael, a brother, Albert, and his son William who was killed in a car accident. in 1950.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; three daughters, Mrs. M.E. Weber, Rawlins; Mrs. J.P. Rommel, Rapid City; and Mrs. Roger Bonsell, Lusk; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Higgenbotham and Mrs. Emma Horn; and a cousin, Arch Whittington, Buffalo, W. Va.; and ten grandchildren.
