Michael Gene Cole

A memorial service was held here Monday afternoon for Michael Cole who died August 5 at Natrona County Memorial Hospital in Casper following a long illness.

Michael Gene Cole was born the first of 12 children of Edwin and Jewell Cole on May 12, 1927, at Oshkosh, Neb. He grew up and attended school in Estes Park, Colo., before moving to Lusk in 1950 with his family where he was employed as theater manager for 17 years.

From 1967 to 1971 Mr. Cole was employed as a ranch hand in both Colorado and Oklahoma. He returned to Lusk in 1971. On June 10, 1977, he was married to Alice Davis, a long-time friend, at Rapid City, S. D. They lived in Lusk where he was employed by the city until moving to Evansville in 1980. There he was employed by the Evansville water treatment plant.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Alice of Evansville; 7 stepchildren: Roland, Tracy, and Dee Dee Davis of Evansville, Emma Lowe of Denver, Colo., Linda Porter, of Flagstaff, Ariz., Rick Thompson of Casper and Bill Thompson, Rapid City; grandmother, Minerva Cole of Zarepath, N. J.; 11 brothers and sisters: Edwin Jr., John, Maxine Eutsler, Dorothy Cole, Lou Ann Predmore all of Osage, Wyo., Eunice Schmit, Keystone, S. D., Mary Bowman, Grand Junction, Colo., Bill of Provo, Utah, Pete of Bozeman, Mont., Bob of Rock Springs, and Jim of Alliance, Neb.; 11 grandchildren.

The Rev. Frank Bozart officiated at the memorial service held at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Music was provided by Edna DeCastro, organist and Mark Lohr who sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "No Tears in Heaven."

Casket bearers were George Dixon, Malcomb Hammer, Marvin Hammer, William Oates, Bill Anderson and Jim Santistevan. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.
