Bill Canaday

Funeral services for Bill Canaday of Chadron, Neb. were held Monday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Cortney officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Canaday, 59, died Wednesday Jan. 10, at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, SD.

Mr. Canaday was born June 28, 1936 in Chadron, Neb. to Arthur and Mary (Hebbert) Canaday. He served in the army from 1954 to 1956. On April 29, 1970, he married Lila Kay Bannan.

He was preceded in death by his son Randy Lee Canaday and father Fred Canaday.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Canaday of Chadron; his wife, Lila; sons, Billy Gene Canaday of Rock Springs, Wyo., Johnny LaVern Canaday of Toledo, OH and Donald Dean Canaday of Chadron; daughter, Beverly Jo Lashmett of Lusk; brothers, Arthur (Chuck) Canaday and Bob Canaday, both of Chadron and Larry Canaday of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Mabel Wickizer of Phoenix, Ariz., Clair Leithead of Douglas, Ellen Frye of Chadron, Neb. and Twila Gladson of Worland; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for the family. Donations may be sent to First National Bank of North Platte, Chadron Branch. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron was in charge of arrangements.
