Jennie Allsup, long-time resident of Manville, died Dec. 14 in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. Memorial service was conducted Friday at Peet Mortuary Chapel with Dallas Swisher officiating.
Jennie Merle Allsup was born August 23, 1889, at Tobias, Neb., the daughter of Rass and Jennie Baughn. The family moved to Manville in 1892. There she attended school in addition to one year of school at Jireh College.
She was married to James W. Allsup who preceded her in death.
Music for the memorial service was provided by Edna DeCastro, organist, and Verla Etchemendy who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art".
Pallbearers were Sven Johnson, Roger Swisher, Stan McLean, Gurney McLean, Dutch Kennedy, and Glen Valentine. Honorary bearers were Chub Lashmett, William Welch, Howard Foley, Floyd Alexander, Alvin Alexander, Verner Johnson, Fred Sullivan, Jack Kettler, Burt Kaper, Lloyd Tschacher, and Edwin Tschacher.
Interment was in the Dellview Cemetery, Manville. Memorials have been established to Niobrara Nursing Home.
Besides her late husband, Mrs. Allsup was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and a great-grandson.
She is survived by three sons, Darrell of Brookings, Ore., Wilbur of Medford Ore., and Claude of Central Point, Ore; two daughters, Cleo Swisher of Casper and Bette Alexander of Manville; a brother Curt Baughn of Riverton; two sisters, Tessie Valentine of Wheatland and Nita Lashmett of Manville; 12 grand-children; 14 great-grand-children; and 12 great-great-grand-children.
MR. AND MRS. J.W. ALLSUP HONORED AT 50TH ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE

Approximately 100 attended the open house March 19 honoring the 5th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Allsup at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Oscar Alexander in Manville.
The serving table was covered with a hand crocheted tablecloth made by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Claude Allsup, with a pink background. An archway of lighted baby roses, gold candles and a three tiered cake decorated with pink roses completed the decorations. The framed wedding certificate was displayed on the gift table.
The three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Allsup presided at the serving table the first hour, with granddaughters completing the serving. Claude Allsup and Mrs. Charles Ward served the cake, Darrell Allsup and Mrs. Gurney McLean poured coffee and Wilbur Allsup and Mrs. Frank Blagg the punch. Mrs. Wilbur Allsup presented the guest book and Mrs. Dallas Swisher was in charge of the gift table.
Mr. and Mrs. Allsup were married in Manville, March 21, 1911 at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Baughn, in the same house in which Mr. and Mrs. Alexander now live. They moved to Brookings, Ore., in 1942 returning to Manville in 1952.
