Helen Eileen McCarthy

Helen Eileen McCarthy, 75, sister of Mary Bruch, Lusk, died November 14 at the Park Manor Nursing Home in Rawlins.

She was born October 8, 1905, one of five children of Michael and Margaret Burke McCarthy at the family homestead in Crooked Creek, Montana. In 1910 the family moved to Thermopolis where her father bought a ranch. She attended school for a short time in Thermopolis before being sent to the School for the Deaf in Omaha.

Her parents would take her to Bonneville or Moneta where she took the train to Omaha. There she completed 12 years of schooling and developed a love of reading.

During the 1960s Eileen made her home with her sister Mary on the Bruch Ranch near Lusk.

Rosary was this Monday at Peet Mortuary Chapel with Mass of the Resurrection celebrated Tuesday at St. Leo's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Bianco officiating. Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

Karen Edinger was organist and casket bearers were Joe Bruch, Chuck Bruch, Edwin Tschacher, John Bruch, Joe Pfister and Paul Pfister.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Justin and Dan. She is survived by one brother Dave McCarthy of Basin and her sister Mary of Lusk.
