Mass for Christian Burial for Evelyn Eva Netz, age 65, were held Thursday, May 3, 1984 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Douglas with the Celebrant Father Philip Colibraro. Rosary was recited Wednesday, May 2, 1984 at 7 p.m. at the Converse Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. Evelyn Netz died Friday, April 27, 1984 at Rosewood Terrance in Salt Lake City, Utah after a short illness.

Evelyn, the daughter of Joseph and Elnora Shimek Wanek was born July 12, 1918 at Lost Springs. She was raised on the family ranch north of Lost Springs, attending rural grade school and graduating from the Shawnee High School in 1935.

She was married to Bill Netz. She owned and operated the Lost Springs Bar until 1962, at which time she moved to the family ranch. She and her son, Joe, were still operating the ranch at the time of her death.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Douglas.

She is survived by her son, Joe, of Lost Springs, and her sister Mildred Hudson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters.

Serving as pallbearers were Lewis Swan, David Khromfelt, Virgil Downing, George Etchemendy, Allen Heins and Gary Dickau. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Merlyn Crawford, Clint Owens, Jess York, R. J. Lott, Ed Downing and George Falkenburg.

A memorial has been established to the St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, or Converse County Cancer Fund. The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
