Last Rites Held for David Wood

Funeral services for David C. Wood were held at the Peet Chapel Saturday afternoon at two o'clock with Orvel Prather, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating.

Mrs. Ramie Fosher and Mrs. Hobart Cockreham sang "Now I Belong To Jesus" and "Blessed Calvary." Mr. J. P. Watson was organist. Pallbearers were Ed Hoy, Ira Lamb, Harold Fosher, Hobart Cockreham, Richard Scott and Dean Fosher. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Wood was born in North Platte, Nebr., February 1, 1898, the son of Charles and Lucretia Purdy Wood. He married Miss Florence Teachman in Sutherland, Nebr. in 1920, and they were the parents of one son, David Keith Wood. Mrs. Wood died in 1925. He married (Georgia) M. Burdick at Julesburg, Colo., May 14, 1928. They returned to North Platte to establish their home and Mr. Wood worked as a bank clerk and later as a wholesale representative. In 1947 Mr. Wood, in partnership with a brother, purchased a store in Wheatland. In 1948, Mr. Wood and Al Davenport, a brother-in-law, purchased the Budget Food Mart in Lusk. Mr. Wood was forced by ill health to retire in 1960. He later worked a short time as cashier at the Stockmans Bank. Mr. Wood accepted Christ early in life and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. (Georgia) Wood of Lusk; his son, David Keith, serving in the Navy and stationed at Cheyenne; a sister, Mrs. Rooth Crow of Paxton, Nebr. a brother, Frank M. Wood of Santa Monica, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
