Essie Worley, 85, Dies at Chadron

Essie F. Worley, former resident of Harrison, died January 2 at the Chadron Hospital at the age of 85. Funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church in Chadron this Tuesday, and burial was at the Crawford Cemetery.

Mrs. Worley, the daughter of the Rev. Joseph A. and Sara Lou Wren Johnson, was born November 26, 1888, on a farm near Little Rock, Ark. Since her father was a Methodist minister the family moved often, and during her childhood she lived in Arkansas, Missouri, the Philippines, and Nebraska.

She was married to Oscar N. Worley in Gordon, Neb., on January 6, 1910. Mr. Worley was with the railroad and they lived in several communities - Newell, S.D., Hay Springs, Rushville, Ft. Robinson, Harrison and Ainsworth. Two children were born.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Rebekahs, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Julius and J. Evan Johnson. She is survived by two sons, Loren O. Worley of Belmont, Calif., and Evan J. Worley of Redwood City, Calif.; by a stepsister, Mrs. Gertrude Hutchinson of Atlantic, Iowa; by eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
