Katherine Brozovich

Katherine Brozovich, age 87, of the Rawhide Butte area south of Lusk, passed away Dec. 31, 2008, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington, Wyo.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 5, 2009, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk, with Father Rafael Chiaka of St. Leo's and Deacon Rolland Raboin of St. Roses's Catholic Church in Torrington co-celebrating. Rosary was recited before the Mass. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Katherine was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Yugoslavia (Croatia), and was held in a concentration camp during WWII. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1950's, coming to Goshen County with the aid of her future husband's family (who had lived in the same area in Croatia), and Judson and Minerva Watson of Lusk.

She married Martin Brozovich in Lusk June 21, 1951, and became a ranch wife. Martin and Katherine adopted their son Art at age 8 in 1960. Katherine was Martin's "right-hand-man" on the ranch.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, and sang in the choir in the early days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; two grandsons, Jordan and Jason; her parents and her siblings (who remained in "the old country").

She is survived by her son Art of the family ranch; her grandsons Ben and Tyler Brozovich of the ranch; and her great-granddaughter Sierra.

Memorials to the donor's choice are suggested.

Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
