Funeral SErvices For Carl Rundquist Held in Colorado

Funeral services were conducted at the Grace Episopal Church in Colorado Springs August 4 for Carl V. Rundquist, 62, well known early resident of Niobrara County, who died late Sunday night, August 1, in the Veterans Hospital at Denver.

Death was attributed to a stroke and a diabetic condition, from which he suffered since World War I. He received treatment for his condition at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver for several years before entering the Veterans Hospital as a patient, about two weeks ago.

Al Rundquist of Lusk, brother of Carl attended the funeral in Colorado Springs. Rites which were arranged by the Law mortuary at 3:30 p.m., were performed by the Rev. Lindsay Patton.

Carl Valentine Rundquist was born on Valentine's Day, Febr. 14, 1893, at Harvey, Illinois, the son of Olaf Nels and Bettie Rundquist. He came to Wyoming in 1911 and was employed in the Snyder Store in Lusk and for the Tom Bell Cattle company.

Rundquist served with the U. S. Army during World War I and saw overseas duty in France and Germany. Through an injury during this time, he contacted diabetes.

Following his discharge from the service, Rundquist returned to Lusk and was employed with the Wyoming State Highway Department. From Lusk, Rundquist went to Rochester, N. Y. to study art. Locally recognized for his talent as a cartoonist, he had several cartoons published in The Lusk Herald.

While residing in Rochester, he married Ethel Buhn June 30, 1926. Returning to Wyoming, the couple spent the summers in Lusk and the winters in Arizona finally locating permanently in the warmer climates.

Suivivors include: his wife, Ethel; a sister Mrs. Boxley Cole, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Al Rundquist, Lusk. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
