Jessie Gerlach Corbin, who died at St. Jude Hospital, Fullerton, Calif., on Feb. 25, was born and reared in Sioux County. He had had surgery for an aneurysm near the aorta, and had been in poor health since 1970 when he had the implant of four artificial veins in his body.

He was born at Harrison to Carl and Mayme Corbin Nov. 28, 1906, the oldest of three brothers. He graduated from Sioux County High School and went on to major in education but did not finish as his father became very ill and he had to take over the running of the ranch.

On Oct. 4, 1930, he married Margaret Enquist at Gering. They had two daughters, Jacqueline and Bonita Jean. Besides working on ranches in his early years, he also worked at a men's ready-to-wear at Douglas, Wyo., which was run by an uncle, and at Marstellers Mercantile at Harrison. The young couple spent their first 11 years on various ranches in Sioux and Dawes counties and moved to southern California in 1943. In his years there he was an auto mechanic, service station operator and owner. He retired last Oct. 1 because of ill health.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Harrison being raised to the third degree June 30, 1947. He later transferred membership to the lodge at Altadena, Calif. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Pasadena. Mr. and Mrs. Corbin were living at Garden Grove at the time of his death.

Mr. Corbin's two hobbies were music and wood working. He, his two brothers and cousins played for many entertainments in and around Sioux County.

Surviving are his widow; the two daughters, Jacqueline (Jackie) Fuller, Long Beach and Bonita Jean (Bonnie) Miller, Corona-del-Mar. There are three grandchildren, Richard, Dale and Elicia Miller, and three step grandchildren, Jim and Robbin Fuller, and Cathy Fuller Salverson, all of Long Beach; one brother, Bruce Corbin, Kimball, Nebr.
