Delberta Sims Simpson

A celebration of life of Delberta Sims Simpson was held at a Memorial Service on Feb. 20, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne with Rev. Bob Garrard officiating. Interment of remains will be in Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera, Calif. at a later date.

Delberta passed away Feb. 18, at her apartment at Aspen Winds after a three-year battle with lymphoma. She was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Newport, Neb., to Albert "Bert" and Della Rogers Sims.

Delberta married Roe Simpson on June 22,1938. In 1946, they moved their family to Madera, Calif., where they lived for the next 45 years. They both worked for the School District and Delberta was the pastry cook at the High School until her retirement. Following Roe's death, Delberta moved back to Cheyenne in 1991 to be closer to family. While there, she joined the Magic City Rebekah Lodge No. 100F and the First Presbyterian Church.

Her parents, husband, one brother Ceil Sims, two sisters Edna Fullerton and Gladys Amend preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter Joan and husband Gary of Temple Hills, MD, a son Albert and wife Lucy of Cheyenne, granddaughter Angela Ekker of Denver, Colo. and locally nieces Mae Ann Manning and family, Mary and husband Chuck Engebretsen and family of Lost Springs, a nephew Dale and wife Jackie Fullerton of Rapid City, S.D., and family and a niece Della Mae and husband Ben Coon of Torrington and family plus a host of other family and friends.
