Funeral Services for Mrs. Hilsmann Held

Funeral services were held July 21 in the Horstman-Gay Chapel at Casper for Mrs. Ida M. Hilsmann, 64, Wyoming pioneer and long-time resident of Casper. Rev. M. L. Jackson of the First Methodist Church officiated. Private interment services were held in Highland Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Judge T. C. Daniels, John P. Bishop, Marvin L. Bishop, W. R. Gregor, Dave Bryant and Marion Rasmussen of Manville.

Mrs. Hilsmann was born in Manville, on May 26, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis E. Spaugh.

Mr. Spaugh trailed the first cattle to Wyoming over the Texas Trail while Wyoming was still a territory.

Later he moved his family from Winston Salem, N.C., to a homestead in southern Wyoming. The town of Manville is now located upon that site.

Ida Mary Spaugh married Fred R. Hilsmann at Manville June 15, 1916. He was in the ranching business in the Manville area until 1921 when they moved to Casper. They have lived there since that time.

Mrs. Hilsmann was reared and received her education at Manville and later graduated from the Grand Island Business College. She first worked in the Bank of Manville and continued in accounting work most of her life. She was a member of the Natrona Rebekah Lodge No. 13, Women's Departmental Club, Ft. Caspar Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the First Methodist Church of Casper.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Bishop of Casper and Bertha Lou Hilsmann of Denver; one son Curt A. Hilsmann of Ogden, Utah; and six grandchildren.
