Mass for Rose Houx held At Church of Nativity

Rose Houx, Harrison and formerly of Lusk, died in Harrison on Saturday. Rosary was Tuesday evening and Mass of Resurrection was Wednesday morning, Nov. 3, at the Church of Nativity in Harrison.

Rose S. Houx was born February 25, 1906, in Sioux County, Neb., the daughter of Leo and Katherine Zurn DeBock. She graduated from High School in Harrison in 1927 and then taught rural Sioux County Schools.

On November 28, 1930, Rose and William C. Houx were married. She lived most of her married life around Lusk, moving back to Harrison after the death of her husband in 1963.

The Rev. Gerald Carlson officiated at the Mass of Resurrection. Pallbearers were Henry Hourt, Pat Hourt, Jerry Anderson, Joe Hourt, Alvin Parmely and Don Dunn. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Harrison.

Memorials have been established to the Sioux County Rescue Unit.

Mrs. Houx was preceded in death by her husband, and infant son, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two stepchildren, Kenneth Houx of Glendo and Pauline Kaper of Lander, three sisters, Sister David Marie of Loop City, Neb., Florence Stetson of Dacono, Colo., and Grace Valencia of Ronda Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
