Funeral Being Conducted for Frank Johnston

Funeral service for Frank Johnston, 76, are being held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Mortuary. Mr. Johnston died October 10 at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital.

Reverend Robert Boutwell of the Congregation Church is officiating. Burial is to be in the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. Judson Watson, organist is accompanying Dan Christian, Harry Lyon, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Hobart Cockerham as they sing "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket bearers are George Prell, Glen Prell, Bill Prell, Edwin Prell, Dean Prell and John Dollison.

Honorary pallbearers are Zeb Ward, Julius Peterson, Joe O'Brien, Roscoe Ross, Joe Traphagan, Oscar Middleton, Jim Thompson, Al Davenport, Walter Swope, Glen Wilson, Ray Christian, Ray DeGering, Walter Kant, Ted Schmidt, Zip Thompson and Harry Brown.

The family requested that memorials be made to the Cancer fund.

Frank R. Johnston, the son of A. E. Johnston and Ida Johnston, was born in Atchison County, Kansas, August 22, 1895. He was educated in schools in Kansas and Nebraska. As a young man he worked on cattle ranches and in 1919 homesteaded the place which has since developed into the present Johnston Ranch located in Northern Niobrara County.

Mr. Johnston was a member of the school board for several years, a member of the Wyoming Stockgrowers Association and the Wyoming Farm Bureau for many years.

He is survived by his widow, Florence; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gugelman and Miss Nellie Johnston of Curtis, Neb., two daughters by a former marriage, Margerette (Mrs. N. E. Blackmore) of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Betty Jean (Mrs. Frank Torrance) of Douglas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Survivors also include seven step-children and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. His parents and a brother died previously.
