Gladys Esther Kuhn

Former Lusk resident Gladys Esther Kuhn, 67, died last Friday at Goshen Memorial Hospital in Torrington after a long illness.

A native of Million Hill, S.D., she was the daughter of William and Nellie Olafson.

She attended school in Hamil and Yankton, S.D.

She was married to Clarence Briggs on Sept. 30, 1930, and later they divorced. On Sept. 2, 1960, she was married to Gregory Kuhn, who died in 1967.

Mrs. Kuhn had worked for a time at the Ben Franklin store in Lusk and also cared for the sick.

She had lived in Lingle and Torrington for the past years.

Never having a child of her own, she had a special interest and love for her nieces and nephews. She was always known as "Auntie" by them and their friends.

Family and friends say Mrs. Kuhn always found time to care for others in their time of need.

She is survived by two brothers, Ray Olafson of Lusk and Willard Olafson of Lyons, Neb.; three sisters, Blanche Hohenthener of Providence, R.I., Hazel Cooper of Walthill, Neb., and Mildred Ryken of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Mr. Kuhn, her parents and a brother, Ralph Olafson.

A service was held Tuesday at Peet Mortuary, with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.

Organist was Minerva Watson and soloist was Joy Kaltenheuser. The songs were "Beyond the Sunset" and "Whispering Hope."

Burial was at Lusk Cemetery.

Pallbeareres were Orville Lerud, Jerry Wasserburger, Richard Pfister, Irving Corkill, Charles Santistevan and Frank Kuhn.
