Cora Baker, Mother of Local Residents, Dies in Nebraska

Mrs. Cora O. Perkins Baker, 96, Odell, Neb., died March 13 at Beatrice, Neb. Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk March 16 at 2:00p.m., with the Rev. Clyde Thompson of Douglas, assisted by Don Dusenberry, pastor of Lusk, officiating.

Mrs. J.P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Hobart Cockreham as she sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Gathering Flowers for the Master's Bouquet."

Casket bearers were Earl Slagle, Jim, Bob, Eddie, George and Don Baker. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

She was the youngest daughter of George Ezra and Ellen Perkins, born September 30, 1874, at Alton, Kans. At the age of four she moved with her parents to Barns, Kans., where she grew to womanhood. On Dec. 25, 1894, she married George C. Baker. They were the parents of six sons and four daughters. The eldest died while serving in the Navy.

She was a faithful member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Guy and Roy of Douglas, George of Riverton and Harry of Lusk; four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Tincher, Wymore, Neb., Mrs. Harriet Slagle, Mrs. Emily Shelden, Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Stella Kenton, Lander, Wyo.; 24 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren.

Her husband, two sons, her parents, three brothers and two sisters died previously.
