Ruby (Griffith) Patten

A memorial service for Ruby Patten was held February 10, 2004 in the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Medford, Ore. Private increment was in Eagle Point National Cemetery following the service.

Ruby Griffith was born April 12, 1922 to Leonard and Ruth Hughes Griffith near Randolph, N.C. The family moved to Wyoming in May 1931. Ruby attended grade school in the flattop vicinity and graduated from Manville High School in 1940.

Irvin Patten and Ruby Griffith were married February 21, 1944 and spent most of their lives in Oregon. Irvin died in August 1992.

Ruby worked at the local motel for several years but later she delivered meals on wheels and took elderly people to medical appointments.

The afternoon of December 31, 2003 Ruby wasn't feeling as usual and called 911. She was taken to the Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital. After two major surgeries and three weeks in intensive care she was moved to a room where she seemed to be making satisfactory improvement, January 2, 2004 she was moved to Rehab and after more complications, she died the next afternoon.

Surviving are three children, Ray and Teresa Palmer, Davey and Jane Patten and family, Denise McGahuey and family, Ruby's sister Vivian Rennard and family and a special cousin Georgia Wallis and family whom she had planned to visit in February 2004. Also three cousins in eastern Nebraska where several family reunions were held through the years.

She will be sorely missed by many.

Sam and Vivian Rennard accompanied by daughter Carol of Cheyenne attended the memorial.
