Jack Whitaker

Funeral services for Jack Whitaker, 56, of Sunnyvale, CA were held Monday, June 9, 1986 at Sunnyvale Baptist Church. Burial was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, CA.

Whitaker died June 5, 1986 of cancer. He was born July 20, 1929 near Lost Springs, WY to Ethel (Bartos) and Franklin Whitaker and grew up in that area. He attended grades 1-8 at Keeline School and attended one year of high school at Manville.

Moving with his family to California in 1954, he graduated from South San Francisco High School. He settled in Santa Clara Valley, after a year of active service with the U. S. Army, and operated an insurance business for 30 years.

In 1961, Whitaker was chosen "Outstanding Young Man of the Year" by the city of Sunnyvale.

He is survived by his wife, Bess; parents Jim and Ethel Church of Aptoc, CA; three daughters; two grandchildren, four brothers and one sister; plus numerous other relatives and friends.

Attending the services from this area were Floyd Bartos, Verla Etchemendy and Gwen Longbone.
