Funeral services for Leona Baughn were held Thursday, Dec. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Peet Mortuary Chapel.

She was born May 15, 1910 and died at the Niobrara Nursing Home in Lusk on Dec. 22, 1987.

Baughn, one of eight children born to Charles and Pearl Baker, was born in Presgo, South Dakota. She spent her early years in eastern Nebraska, graduating from high school in Oakdale, NE. She was married to Gus Malmborg, with whom she had four children, Marion, Kenneth, Shirley and Evelyn. Gus precedes her in death.

Leona later married Ray Baughn on August 14, 1953, he preceded her in death on April 14, 1971.

Leona was an excellent cook, whose interest in cooking led to several different jobs which included cooking for the Niobrara Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home and for Lusk Elementary School.

When the Senior Citizen's Center opened in Lusk, Leona was instrumental in getting the food service started. She provided many dishes, pots and pans as well as her cooking know-how. Following her retirement, Leona continued to cook part-time at the Senior Center.

Since suffering a stroke two years ago, Leona resided at the nursing home in Lusk.

She is survived by her four children; Marian Frodine of Wheat Ridge, CO; Kenneth Malmborg of Cheyenne; Shirley Wasson of Lusk; and Evelyn Criss of Chadron, NE; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Ivan Baker of Council, ID; two sisters, Thelma Curtis of Emmett, ID and Helen Shiply of Boise, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials to the Senior Citizen's Center in Lusk would be appreciated by the family.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
