Mrs. Beem, 88, Dies Here Friday

Mrs. Minnie Beem, 88, a resident of Niobrara County for over 50 years, died at the Mannring Convalescent Home Friday. She had been in failing health for three years.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart in charge. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Lyle Eddy sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" with Mrs. A. F. DeCastro as organist. Pallbearers were Archie Huey, Wilmer Baars, Frank Taylor, Ralph McCormick, Jim Potter and Bernard Thon. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Minnie Copper, daughter of Hanna Gibson and Cyriss Copper, was born at Springville, Ia., October 6, 1873. When she was 15 the family came by covered wagon to Cedar County, Nebraska, later moving to Dawes County, near Whitney. She married Arthur H. Beem November 12, 1895 and they were the parents of three children. Two, a son Fay and daughter Jessie, died when small children. In 1904 they filed on a homestead near Bright, Wyo. They later moved to Lusk where Mr. Beem was janitor of the schools for 11 years. For a number of years they made their home in south Lusk. Mr. Beem died in 1943.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Art Hitchcock of Lusk; four granddaughters, six great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
