Prell Brothers Die Within Three Days of Each Other

Jesse and Jay Prell, brothers, died three days apart. Jesse, age 58 years died at Hot Springs, S. Dak., on Saturday, July 22 and Jay, 49, died at the Weston County Hospital in Newcastle, on Tuesday, July 25.

The Prell brothers were former residents of Niobrara county, having homesteaded in the northern part of the county some 20 years ago.

They were the sons of Frederick and Carie Almedia Prell. Jesse William was born Sept 6, 1891 at David City, Nebr., and spent the early part of his life in Butler county, Nebr.

On October 3, 1917, he was united in marriage to Cora R. Beardsley at Broken Bow, Nebr. His wife preceded him in death in January 1934. They were the parents of three children, Daniel Jay, who died in infancy and two daughters, Eunice Mae Graham of Moorcroft, Wyo., and Mrs. Lula Mildred Lundy of Newcastle, both of whom survive.

Jesse Prell was strickened with polio in 1927 and had been in a wheelchair since that time. In 1929 he homesteaded in Wyoming and in later years took up the showmaker trade in Newcastle.

Funeral services were conducted at the Mumper Funeral Home in Newcastle on Sunday by the Rev David Young and the body was shipped to Arnold, Neb. where short services were held on Monday and interment made in the cemetery there.

Jay Burton Prell was born at Burt, Mich., Oct. 1, 1900. He was married to Florence E. Beardsley at Arnold, Nebr., on January 12, 1921. His wife and three daughters and four sons and six grandchildren survive him. His children are George B, Newcastle; Abbie C. Stevenson, Craig, Colo.; Glenn A., Newcastle; Bill, Newcastle; Edith A. Sheperd, Craig, Colo.; Flossie J. and Edwyn J. of Newcastle.

Funeral services were conducted from the Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Newcastle at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29 with interment being made in the Greenwood cemetery.
