Services for Laura Marie Burke, 81, will be held today, April 8, 1992, at 1 p.m. at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with Father John Murray of Saint James Catholic Church officiating and Mickey Meier-Uren as eulogist.

Burke died April 4, 1992, at the Wyoming Medical Center following a short illness. She was born June 25, 1910, in Hemingford, Neb., the daughter of the late Michael and Emma (Annen) Tschacher. She was reared and educated in Hemingford.

On May 26, 1928, she married Chester A. Burke in Hot Springs, S.D.

The couple moved to Wyoming in 1930 and settled in the Manville area. They lived on ranches near Orin Junction, Lusk and Manville until 1974, when they moved to Glendo.

Burke later lived in Douglas before moving to Casper. She was a member and past President of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed hunting for jade and artifacts.

Survivors include two daughters, Naomi Meier and Sandra Bartlett both of Casper; one brother, Edwin Tschacher and one sister, Adelyn Johnson both of Manville; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died May 3, 1976; two sons, Loran and Robert Burke; two brothers, Lewis and Lloyd Tschacher and a grandson.

Memorials to the Samuel Mares American Legion Post No. 8 would be appreciated by the family.

The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
