Betty Johnson, 79, passed away peacefully November 27, 2013 with family by her side at Central Wyoming Hospice. She was born in Lusk, WY on June 1, 1934 to Niels Christian Myrup and Millie Mabel (Olds) Myrup.

Betty graduated from Lusk High School in 1952, and married Carl (Curly) Leroy Johnson January 14, 1953. Together they lived in Lusk WY, San Diego CA, Kansas, Glasgow MT, Lewistown MT, Torrington and finally, Casper WY. The couple had three children; Curtis in 1954, Melinda in 1956, and Shawn in 1968.

Betty worked alongside her husband in road construction, and as a homemaker, caring for her children. She was a devoted, loving mother, and was always proud of her children. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, playing cards, and shopping, but above all, she loved spending time with family. She had a kind heart, a gentle soul, and always welcomed those who entered her home.

She is survived by her sister Annie Matilda (Tillie) Parmely, her daughter Melinda Johnson, her son Shawn Johnson, nine grand children and ten great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Curley, her brothers: Lester Myrup, Alfred (Tuffy) Myrup and Don Myrup, her sisters Dorothy Mashek , Laura Alexander, and her son Curtis Niels Johnson. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life followed by an informal reception will be held at 3pm at Niobrara County Fairgrounds with cake and refreshments to be served.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Casper.
