Wm. H. Clifton Died Suddenly at Home of Daughter Sunday

William Henry Clifton, aged 82 years, passed away suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Jordan of Manville, on Sunday, August 21st, the cause of his death being attributed to general disability die to his advanced age.

Mr. Clifton came to Wyoming in Nebraska in 1917 and had made his home much of the time with his son,, W.H. Clifton, who resides on Indian Creek near the Leonard Christian ranch. But ten days ago he went to Manville to stay awhile with Mrs. Jordan and was taken suddenly ill and passed away after a brief illness.

Mr. Clifton is credited with being the first white child born in Omaha in 1856 and still owns land that he homesteaded in Douglas County. His neighbors in Wyoming speak very highly of him and found him very honorable and very fair in all of his dealings and a very fine man esteemed by all who made his acquaintance.

His wife and one daughter preceded him in death and besides the son with whom he made his home and the daughter whose home he passed away, he is survived by and another daughter, Mrs. E.H. Buck of Lusk and two sons in Nebraska, besides a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Peet Funeral chapel on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Plenord Shroyer, minister of the Church of God, officiating. Music was finished by F.B. Kuns and Wm. Sherk with Mrs. Watson accompanist.

Pall bearers were Jerry Shrove, Len Christian, Ben Giedd, Melvin Miller, Roger Percival and Dudley Fields. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Peet Mortuary and burial was made in the Lusk cemetery.
